Dates to Serve 

1st Sunday, every month:  Bring aluminum cans. Leave in the hallway.

1st Sunday, every month:  Bring in Change for Change, 100% going to ELCA Hunger Appeal. Put coins in the buckets during church.

December 10 and January 14:  Faith’s Table, serving about 40 people at 5:30, needs helping hands, menu items and non-perishables. See hallway sign-up.

Every Sunday:  Bring one non-perishable food item for Oxford’s Choice Pantry.

Anytime:  Bring toiletries for Faith’s non-food store, open for folks coming to Faith’s Table each month.  Soaps and cleaners, diapers, paper products needed continually.


RE-THINKING GIFTS:

Did you notice? When the last copy of The Lutheran arrived at your house, it included a Giving Catalog from the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.   The suggestions provide a world of new ways to look at gift-giving this time of year or any time.

...a fruit tree for a village struggling for food or

  • Contact Gene Willeke for ways to serve in the community.
  • Recycle, recycle.
  • Bring food or non-food items to church.
  • Lead Relay for Life

How many Advent verbs are there in your life?

Donate so local families can go shopping for their children’s Christmas gifts. Make checks out to Faith, with a memo to the Family Resource Center, any time in December.

Ringthe Salvation Army bells. For sign-up times, call Dave Kullman or see the Kiwanis’ website, listed in next column.  Can you give every time you see them?

Cook and clean-up with Faith’s Table, Wed. Dec 10.  Last month hosted many new people as needs continue to grow.

Bring a non-perishable food item for Oxford’s Choice Pantry. Place items in baskets near the coffee hospitality area.

Buypersonal care items (shampoo, diapers, toothpaste, etc.) for Faith’s Table pantry. Place items in baskets near the coffee hospitality area.

Use your Kroger Neighborhood Reward Card for all your holiday shopping.  Kroger rebates 4% directly to the Oxford Choice Pantry. Last month Kroger donated $357.33 from our spending.

Give a gift  through ELCA’s Good Gifts Program to honor someone special. See website, next column.

Knit a Prayer Shawl.  Pray over it, give it away, share God’s love.  See office for instructions.

Make time for moment of daily Advent reflections as you read  e-devotionals. Sign up by calling the church office.

Play on freerice.com to feed the hungry and get smarter. (Great for bored kids!)

Read The Purpose of Christmas by Rick Warren to discover how celebration, salvation, and reconciliation all fit into the season.

Pray for all the people on Faith’s Prayer List as well as for others.  Remember prayers of thanksgiving!

Collect the cans from every celebration you attend this month. Bring them on the first Sunday of January ONLY, please, for recycling. Could this be your service project all year long?

Jingle all your coins as you offer them to      Change for Change World Hunger buckets the first Sunday of each month. 

Committo taking the initiative in a cause in 2009. Faith’s Relay for Life team needs a captain.  Oxford Habitat leadership welcomes expertise as they plan. Start a new area of service where your interests and talents lie.

Speakup about your faith.  Someone hasn’t a clue about your Savior.

Budgetyour time, talents, and resources so that the season is one of calm and growth, not frenzy and exhaustion.
