Welcome

From Pastor Logan...
It was a world premier, and by all rights, it was fantastic! “The Beatitudes -- The Sermon on the Mount” composed by Bob Benson, was offered by the Chancel Choir during our Festival Worship celebrating Reformation Sunday! The choir’s offering was first-rate and along with the sacrament of Holy Communion and the congregational singing of “A Mighty Fortress is Our God” it made us all feel as if we had been to church! This presentation was especially poignant because it was commissioned by Gene Willeke in memory of Carol. Thank you, Gene, for sharing this significant tribute with all who worshipped. All Saints Sunday is fast approaching. During this evocative and meaningful worship service, we will remember the faithful departed of the congregation who have passed from this life to the church triumphant during the past year including Richard Jurrus and Emma Wiley. In addition to the sacrament of Holy Communion, we will invite people form the congregation to light a candle on the altar in memory of loved ones who have passed from this life to the life that for us is yet to come. By the way, this is the Sunday we all need to be aware of the time change: spring forward, fall back. Campus Ministry Sunday will be November 16. In addition to students taking a very visible and active part in all aspects of worship leadership, we will also have a guest preacher. Pastor Shari Ayers, Director of Admissions, Trinity Lutheran Seminary, Columbus, Ohio will be here to offer the message. In addition to proclaiming the word of God, you can be certain that Pastor Ayers will help students and all of us to understand the many ways to be attentive to their vocational call. Christ the King Sunday is November 23rd. As we gather in worship, we will celebrate that Christ is King of all creation. We honor and worship a living God who gives us the very best of everything, including the precious gift of eternal life extended to us only through the very life, death and resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the King. Plan now to be a part. The last Sunday of November is also the First Sunday of Advent. The season of Advent begins a new church year and will initiate the lectionary cycle B. As a liturgical church, these particular Sundays help us to embrace and understand various facets of our faith life as Christians living in the world and following the Living Lord. The shift in our scripture from cycle A to cycle B helps us to cover a broader base as we read through the Word of God as a faith community. Advent helps us to prepare for the celebration of a different world premier! It helps us prepare for the celebration of the world premier of the Savior of all Creation who came to us in our own very form, God, taking on human flesh, and sharing our humanity. Join us as we worship the God of all. Join us for all of these special worship opportunities. And why not invite someone you love and care about to join us, too!
